The Black Curriculum's New Reading Challenge: Empowering Young Minds through Black History

The Black Curriculum's New Reading Challenge

We are excited to announce the launch of our Reading Challenge - an engaging initiative designed to empower young readers with enriching stories and resources that highlight Black history, culture, and contributions. This challenge aims to spark curiosity, foster a deeper understanding of the world around us, and inspire the next generation to become more informed, empathetic, and inclusive.

What’s The Challenge About?

Participants in the reading challenge will be encouraged to explore our curated selection of books, articles, and creative materials that centre Black voices and historical experiences. From stories of trailblazing figures to explorations of important events, the reading list will offer a mix of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry to capture the imaginations of young readers.

How To Get Involved?

The challenge is open to all young people, schools, libraries, and youth organisations. We invite participants to read, reflect, and submit their thoughts through a review of their favourite piece. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young readers to share what they’ve learned, develop their critical thinking skills, and connect with peers across the country.

Why Take Part?

Reading is one of the most powerful tools for understanding and embracing diverse perspectives. Through this challenge, we aim to encourage not only a love of reading but also an appreciation of Black history beyond Black History Month. This is a chance to spotlight stories that are often overlooked and create an enduring impact on the minds of young readers.
