The Black Curriculum Turns 6. Celebrating Creativity, Culture & Community

Six years ago, The Black Curriculum began with a vision to embed Black history and culture at the heart of British education. Today, that vision has grown into a thriving movement powered by young changemakers, educators, and supporters who believe in the power of knowledge, creativity and representation.

To mark this incredible milestone, we hosted our 6th Anniversary Black Tie Celebration. An evening dedicated to honouring excellence, creativity, and the bright young voices shaping the future. The night brought together our community of partners and supporters, for a truly unforgettable experience filled with inspiration, connection, and joy.

Guests were treated to live music, moving performances, and storytelling that captured the essence of Black British culture. The energy was electric, from Tai The DJ’s vibrant set to an unforgettable spoken word performance by Shocka, whose powerful words resonated deeply with everyone in the room. Our Young Champions also took the stage with heartfelt presentations, alongside an exhibition showcasing remarkable Black talent. Each moment reminded us why celebrating and investing in Black creativity matters.

Honouring Our Young Champions

At the heart of the evening were our Young Champions, the next generation of leaders and creators whose courage and imagination continue to drive change. Their stories, art, and achievements highlight what’s possible when we invest in young people and make space for them to thrive. Their presence was a powerful reminder that the work of The Black Curriculum is not just about education, it’s about legacy, empowerment, and community.

Supporting Our Mission

Every ticket purchased, every raffle entry, and every donation from the evening directly supports our youth programmes and reparations work in Ghana. These initiatives allow us to expand opportunities for learning, amplify Black voices, and continue reshaping the narrative around Black history in the UK. Together, we’re creating pathways for a more equitable and inclusive future.
