OUR SERVICES

The Black Curriculum works with schools, educators and education providers across early years, primary, secondary and further education to confront the systemic absence of Black history in the curriculum. We exist to ensure Black history is taught as essential knowledge & not an optional add-on or a one-month conversation. Through research-led programmes, classroom resources and educator training, we equip schools with the tools to teach accurate, representative and inclusive histories. Our work challenges outdated narratives and builds an education system that reflects the full truth of British and European history.

  • Young People

We work with young people from KS1 to KS5 to make sure Black British history, identity and culture are not just mentioned, they're taught, understood, and celebrated. Our sessions are dynamic and honest, emphasising arts-based learning activities and resources, giving learners the tools to see themselves in history and understand the world they live in today.

  • Teachers

Our training equips teachers to teach Black British history as essential knowledge, not an add-on. Through practical, classroom-ready guidance, we build teacher confidence, strengthen pedagogy and support accurate, respectful language use. Educators leave with clear, actionable ways to embed Black history into everyday teaching and school culture, creating inclusive learning environments that reflect the full story.

  • Universities

We partner with universities to drive real change around diversity, anti-racism, and the inclusion of Black British history. Our work includes training staff, supervisors, and students to challenge bias and lead inclusively, and collaborating with student unions and departments to embed Black British history across university life and support curriculum decolonisation.

  • Corporates

We partner with organisations to take meaningful action on race, representation, and inclusivity beyond surface-level commitments. Our work equips teams with the knowledge, language, and confidence to engage with issues of race and identity honestly and effectively in the workplace. We don’t just talk about diversity, we make it part of how organisations think, operate, and grow.

  • TBC Learning Resources Portal

The Learning Resources Portal is The Black Curriculum’s digital platform for schools, educators & parents teaching Black British history with confidence and accuracy. Designed for KS1 and KS2, it provides curriculum-aligned resources, lesson plans and activities that embed Black history into everyday learning. The Portal supports teachers to deliver inclusive, truthful education that reflects the full story, consistently, not occasionally.

  • TBC Teacher Training Course

Our 2025 Teacher Training Course equips educators with the knowledge, language and practical strategies to challenge Eurocentric teaching and embed Black British history across the curriculum. Through structured learning, reflection and follow-up refreshers, teachers develop a strong understanding of intersectionality, inclusive language and culturally relevant pedagogy. The course supports sustained change in classroom practice, enabling educators to build inclusive learning environments that reflect the full story, not as an add-on, but as standard practice.

Why Partner with The Black Curriculum

At The Black Curriculum, we work with schools, education leaders, councils and organisations to ensure Black British history is taught as essential knowledge, not an optional add-on. Since 2019, we’ve championed the inclusion of Black histories across the curriculum all year-round, from early years through to further education, because the stories we teach shape how young people see themselves and each other.

Our partnership programmes - including tailored curriculum consultations, impactful teacher training, student workshops and youth leadership initiatives are rooted in research, lived classroom experience and cultural relevance. We support schools to embed inclusive practice, challenge Eurocentric narratives and strengthen racial literacy, creating learning environments where every learner is recognised, valued and empowered.

We value collaboration and co-creation. Working alongside educators, leaders and community partners, we tailor our support to your context and goals, ensuring meaningful, sustainable impact. Every partnership is delivered with care, expertise and a shared commitment to equity in education, because when we broaden what we teach, we broaden who belongs in the story.
