Despite numerous findings demonstrating its importance, young people across the UK are not being taught Black British History consistently as part of the national curriculum; learning about Black history in the lone month of October is not enough. Through their virtual and in-person programmes available to schools, young people and corporations, The Black Curriculum are working to address and overcome this issue, with a clear aim to make Black history part of everyday learning, and to make it accessible to children of all ages.

This new series of books written by dedicated writers carefully chosen by The Black Curriculum, and published by DK, will be integral to the work The Black Curriculum is doing to help provide educational resources to young people about Black British History. Aimed at children aged 8 and upwards, the books will feature stories of the people, places and journeys that shaped Britain. Each book includes bold illustrations from different illustrators, and engaging text. The series will not only educate but will encourage and inspire readers to ask questions, and continue their learning about Black history beyond the classroom.
